Oh Geez. Is April already coming to an end?

I didn’t want to think that I’d forgotten you, oh bloggy blog.  But the truth is, I haven’t really been working on my book.  Someone smack my hand.  Guilt has been smiting me mightily, and I’ll be ending this post by sitting down on my couch with one dog behind my back and another along my thigh writing the ACTUAL book.

Don’t look now, but it’s possible H-E-DOUBLE-HOCKEY-STICKS is finally freezing over.  (Based  on  me  actually writing.)  Should the world end, and you have been highly anticipating my book, I’ll tell you all about it in the next life.  Should we make it through this day, it’s possible it’ll be followed by another day and another where I actually write.

But on the days where I haven’t been writing, I have been doing other fun things. Like…

Dunh….

Dunh….

Dunnnnnnnhhhhhhh…..

Walking around Round Lake (in Camas, WA) with my mom, my good friend, her daughter, and my two dogs.  Little Genius (the daughter) was delightful.  My dogs were afraid to cross the bridge (clearly, they are fantastic guard dogs), and I didn’t have a heart attack on the hills (yay me!)

Mums and I also went to check out Pine State Biscuits.  Who knew that part of Portland had become so darn cute?!  That used to be our neck of the woods when I was in grade school, and we left cause it had ghetto’ed it up pretty fast.  (There was a whole incident with my classmate scratching furrows down another student’s face, and the flasher who like to share his goods at the bus stop.)  Now, the area’s darn cute, and Pine State Biscuits is the win!

This is what I got.  Isn’t it insane?  Insanely delicious.  Don’t be jealous.  You can have one of your own for like $7 or something.  A flippin’ deal, man.

We also had a nap on the couch.

Lest you think I haven’t been working on my book at all… Well that’s just not true.  A friend of mine is helping me make the cover.  We used my lovely nieces as potential models, curled their hair like a certain character of mine, made them put on looser jeans (according to the wisdom of one niece, they aren’t skinny jeans if they don’t hurt), and we hoodied them up.  Here are a few shots I took:

Isn’t she lovely?

Oh here’s another beautiful one….

And yes, this one’s gorgeous too!

When they weren’t modeling for the cover, it’s possible they were talking a bit of smack and wrestling a smidge over who would get to “be the cover.”

I’m a lucky person to have someone in my life who has the skills to make a cover for me, nieces who will model for me, and a mother who will literally spend hours bent over their heads with me to turn three straight-haired girls into curly-headed models.

Truthfully, I’m blessed on all sides.
