Portland: Waffle Window

It’s been a while since I’ve had a Portland adventure.  It’s hard to do with the little ones.  Now that I just have Tiny/SmileyPants, it’s possible to adventure again.  Anyhoo, recently I went with a few friends to Waffle Window on Alberta.  They’re open till 10:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays.  The best thing about hipster food?  It’s artisan quality, and you can often find it for ridiculously cheap.

waffleThis baby was the Blueberry Cheesecake Waffle for $4.50.  Four-freaking-fifty.  My buddy and I chose a savory waffle, a sweet waffle, and two blackberry basil lemonades.  Our total was $14.00.  We went splitsies to avoid a sugar coma.  It was the right call.

After dinner we chatted for a long while since it was slow in the restaurant and then we wandered down to Salt and Straw.  If you haven’t looked up a Salt and Straw ice cream parlor yet, you should.  It has crazy ice cream flavors.  The kind that create “sour-faces” before you even try the flavor, but then you do….  They’re not nasty, they’re flipping delicious.  I tried several flavors including a Dandelion Sorbet but was sold by the Cinnamon Snicker Doodle ice cream.  That doesn’t sound too crazy.  My friend got Strawberry with balsamic something or other and black pepper.  She wasn’t going to try it until I said, “when are you going to have black pepper ice cream again?”

Bowing to my incredible logic, she didn’t just try it but loved her waffle cone full of it.

Anyhoo…Alberta has lots of fun little things.  I want to try the pie place.  I haven’t seen it only heard of it.  And then, of course, there’s the epic Pine State Biscuits with their $5.00 happy hour Reggie which is magical.  Here’s another view in case you’ve forgotten.

The Reggie at Pine State BiscuitsAnyone have an places to recommend for my next adventure?
