Inept Witches

inconvenient Murder

Ingrid and Emily are spoiled, incompetent witches who are attempting to begin a new life in the San Juan islands when someone they both despise dies in their book shop. To prevent themselves from getting arrested for a crime they both totally would have committed, they decide to solve the mystery themselves before going back to their rigid schedule of naps and pedicures.

They probably shouldn’t have so much fun trying to prove their innocence even when their spells go awry. But they do!

moonlight murder

Emily and Ingrid are determined to master only enough magic to get by, but a moonlight ritual goes terribly wrong and they find themselves at the center of yet another murder investigation on Sage Island.

To prevent more murders–their own–they put on their big girl witch panties, arm themselves with truth serum and coffee, and break into a home or two.

Accompanied by unwanted ghosts, magic they can barely use, and a determination to hide their incompetence they attempt to survive yet another murder.

Perhaps they shouldn’t have so much fun when they’re facing jail time. But they do!

Sure, Ingrid’s relationship is in shambles. And sure, Emily is still haunted by her ex-husband. And maybe, the two witches aren’t the best source of any sort of magical help. But their young friend, Mary approaches them anyway.

Before any of them know it, a body is found, an investigation is afoot, and this time–Ingrid and Emily are expected to be useful as they “help” the police with their case. Being the witches they are, they’re just hoping to survive yet another investigation and then escape to Europe before they’re inundated with corpses or convicted of a crime they simply don’t have the skill set to enact.

Perhaps they shouldn’t have so much fun investigating their coven members and torturing the cops…but they do!

Prague Murder

After being suspects in a series of crimes, Ingrid and Emily decide they need a break. So, they pack their bags and mosey their way to Prague where they intend to continue in a lifestyle of naps, too much coffee, and buying too many shoes.

Sure, they’re not even sure what country they’re in. And sure, they didn’t know the guy But when someone falls dead at their feet, one thing leads to another, and they’re trying to explain to yet another cop that they’re innocent of murder while teaching yet another coven just how bad you can be at magic.

They probably shouldn’t have so much fun when they’re facing murder charges. But they do!

ParisMurder

Sure, Ingrid and Emily knew that they were fleeing responsibility and stupid things like real life when they decide to go on an epic vacation. But no shame there, right?

Except, Ingrid is finding that she misses pieces of her life. Mostly Gabe. And Emily is finding that she might be ready to start growing as a witch. Mostly because, yet again, they stumble across yet another murder.

The truth is–the Paris Catacombs would be spooky regardless but add a fresh body, and the two worst witches of Sage Island are well and truly terrified. But now, they have to uncover and escape whoever is murdering people in the catacombs. All without falling victim themselves. They probably shouldn’t have so much fun stumbling around so many bodies, but they do!

(If you’ve gotten this far and you’re wondering if there’s going to be another Inept Witches the answer is….maybe.  You might have noticed that Prague Murder and Murder By Degrees were written by only Amanda.  That’s because me and Auburn are busy ladies and sometimes our schedules don’t mash up.  Right now, I (Amanda) have Ingrid and Gabe at a stopping point.  It’s deliberately left open and deliberately at a place that could be the end.  I’m sorry it isn’t more decisive than that, but if you really, really, really want a sequel–the best way to get one is to sell the book for us.  You can be assured if the sales on these books spike, Ingrid & Gabe will come out of their honeymoon so that Gabe can solve a murder, Ingrid can survive the solving of it, and mostly so that Ingrid can torture her poor, beloved, pretty sheriff.)
